What are the benefits of employing BIM?
A general model is unintelligent and therefore unchangeable. In contrast, if the model is built from scratch, information becomes nested into the object e.g. a table is always attached to the floor (because this piece of information is nested into the object, making it an intelligent BIM object). This allows for more flexibility and precise calculations.
How large does the project have to be before BIM is required?
In general, the project scope should be of a certain size before it makes sense to apply BIM as your chosen modeling technology. However, since 2007, BIM has been a legal requirement for any governmental building activities in Denmark. It is primarily applicable to projects exceeding 5 million DKK.
When can I employ unintelligent objects?
You can employ unintelligent objects within a project if you need the size of the BIM-file to be smaller. This can be done by adding objects with no parameters (unintelligent objects), that still need to be included into the building project but do not need to be intelligent due to an unchangeable means of parameters e.g. a painting or a sofa which rarely differs in parameters due to its standardized measures of height and depth.

How much does it cost to implement BIM?

Who should pay for the BIM models?
The manufacturer of the modeled objects or the owner of the building usually fund the BIM project. They all own the BIM models; however, they make the files available to users (e.g. entrepreneurs) for free to better the chances of their products getting used in a potential project.
What type of software can I use for BIM?
You can employ various types of software when searching to implement your BIM objects.
