It's not an option to get traditional lifestyle images of all products
When selling high-end products like RAIS does, premium visual marketing materials are essential to inspire the customer and make it easy to envision the product as the perfect addition to their home.
"We love to use photos taken in real customers' homes to add an extra layer of credibility to our materials. But these kinds of images are, of course, never ready for product launches, and it's only sometimes possible to find customers who live in homes that match the atmosphere we want to show," says Ann Charlotte Wellejus, ESG & Marketing Manager at RAIS, and continues:
"Traditional photoshoots are not a viable solution for us either because we have to install these heavy stoves at a perfect location before photographing them, and the investment in time and resources is just too big to be an option."
From packshots and lifestyle images...
It all began with 3D pack shots of the products and lifestyle images, in which RAIS stoves are the centerpieces in exclusive home environments focusing on Scandinavian interiors and Nordic nature. RAIS uses these visuals to inspire customers on the website, social media channels, and in printed catalogs. With this digital approach, they always have marketing materials ready for product launches, sometimes even before the stove leaves production.
"We have a clear visual identity that needs to be present in all our marketing materials. But we rarely have time to think of the complete styling ourselves. However, since we have collaborated with Cadesign for this long, they instinctively understand what we want, making the process much easier and faster. Normally, I find a few reference images to set the atmosphere, but we've also begun using mood boards from Cadesign's creative team, which also works really well to create the perfect feel in the visual," says Ann Charlotte Wellejus
But RAIS goes even further with CGI than precise pack shots and stunning lifestyle images.
Inspiring lifestyle images
... To a 3D product configurator…
"It's possible to customize our products in so many different ways, from color, handle, doors, types of glass, height, top plate, and so on. It would be impossible to show all these possibilities in individual images, and, quite frankly, overwhelming for our customers. That's why we created a product configurator back in the day," says Ann Charlotte Wellejus.
RAIS got their first 3D product configurator several years ago, but things tend to move fast in CGI, and the product configurator eventually became outdated.
To offer their customers optimal inspiration, RAIS invested in a new 3D product configurator that matches their high demands and ambitions. Ann Charlotte Wellejus had a clear vision of how she wanted the 3D product configurator to look, and then it was up to us to make her vision come to life.
"I was looking for a configurator that offered more than just a product display; I wanted depth and spatiality. At the same time, our products needed to stand out clearly, so I thought of making the surroundings into line drawings," says Ann Charlotte Wellejus, and continues:
"It took a lot of work and a lot of back-and-forth to finalize the product configurator, but the result is exactly as I imagined it, and we're very satisfied with how it looks and works."

… And an AR solution
RAIS has taken the 3D product configurator a step further to optimize the customer experience. Once the customer has created the stove of their dreams, they can, with a click of a button, move the stove into their own space with an easy-to-use AR solution that works for mobile phones and tablets. It's a great way to help customers make a choice that perfectly matches their homes.
To promote the new AR solution to their audiences, we have also created an inspiring and upbeat animation demonstrating how the stove moves from the phone screen into real life.

Configurator is moving into retail stores
The next step in RAIS's mission to inspire their customers is to bring the 3D product configurator all the way to the physical stores.
